Drug Charges Archives

Traffic stop leads to metro Denver man facing marijuana charges

There are many different things that traffic stops conducted by police can lead to. Sometimes, such stops lead to a person facing drug crime allegations. Serious criminal charges can be brought against an individual in connection to allegations of having committed drug crimes. If a person is found guilty of drug crime charges, they can face severe consequences.

Attorney General announces new drug crimes policy shift

Last week, we mentioned that the federal government has stepped away from cracking down on low-level drug offenders if their marijuana possession has been legalized by the state where they are currently located. This is not the only significant shift in drug policy that the federal government has embraced over the past few weeks.

State marijuana laws won't be challenged by US government

As many Boulder residents are aware, the state of Colorado took a major step -- along with the state of Washington -- during the last election to legalize marijuana. Now, the law is not a universal allowance to carry the drug. The individual still has to be at least 21 years of age, and they cannot possess more than one ounce of marijuana. In addition, the law does not protect anyone from federal prosecution; marijuana possession is still illegal per federal law.

New study should inspire parents to keep marijuana locked up

Colorado residents now generally have the legal right to possess and grow certain amounts of marijuana recreationally and medicinally. New state marijuana laws have helped to ensure that marijuana use is an increasingly personal choice, even though partaking in it may have some undesired consequences.

Colorado lawmakers tackle the subject of ‘stoned driving’

The practical effects of Colorado’s marijuana legalization measures have been controversial for some time now. Though a certain amount of marijuana possession, growing and use is legal in-state, these choices remain criminal under federal law. In addition, employers are not required to honor their employees’ choices to use marijuana and stoned driving remains a concern for road safety advocates. The Colorado legislature recently responded to this last controversial concern by passing a stoned driving limit.
