Thea Lillian Reiff
Ms. Reiff’s expertise in all types of criminal cases is extensive. She has taken dozens of felony cases to trial, with favorable results in difficult cases. She has years of experience handling misdemeanor and juvenile delinquency cases, and extensive trial experience in these areas as well. After graduating from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2002, Ms. Reiff knew she wanted a practice grounded in criminal defense and litigation. Drawn to helping those who need help most, she worked as a deputy public defender in the Golden trial office for nearly ten years before deciding to go into private practice. During her career as a Public Defender, Ms. Reiff developed superior skills in both negotiation and litigation of all types of criminal charges. During her career she has represented over 3,500 clients in cases ranging from misdemeanor and juvenile matters to serious felonies.
Complex criminal litigation is Ms. Reiff’s specialty: she has litigated and tried 70 cases to juries during her career, including several homicide, sex, drug, burglary, theft, and assault cases. She has also tried several juvenile cases to the Court. Dedicated and detailed criminal mitigation has also been a focus of Ms. Reiff’s practice, and she has had years of success negotiating excellent results short of trial. Throughout her career she has refined her ability to identify any and all legal issues in a case, and has developed an eye for all aspects of a criminal case where some relief can be found for the accused. Over the past decade she has also handled many post conviction matters, with success in securing justice for clients whose convictions or resulting punishments were wrongly imposed.
Ms. Reiff was born in Germany in 1976 and grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida. She received her bachelor’s degree with high honors from the University of Florida, majoring in English with a minor in Art History, in 1998. In 1999 she moved to Boulder, Colorado to pursue her juris doctor degree at the University of Colorado School of Law. In 2002 Ms. Reiff graduated from law school and began her career as a trial attorney, and in 2011 she joined Jurdem, LLC.
